Juneteenth: The Quest for Freedom In-Person
Did you know that Cook County was home to several Underground Railroad stops? Join us as we hear from historian and author Professor Larry McClellan about the journey through Cook County made by freedom seekers on their way to Canada. THE EVENT WILL TAKE PLACE AT THE GLENCOE HISTORICAL SOCIETY AT 375 PARK AVENUE, GLENCOE.

About the presenter: Dr Larry McClellan is an esteemed historian and a founding faculty member of Governors State University. His consulting, research and writing focus on historic highways, the Underground Railroad in Illinois, and on African American and regional history south of Chicago. His research began in the 1970s as he studied historic Black communities in the south suburbs. His findings broaden our understanding of the Underground Railroad and our state's role in it.
