Monday at the Movies: Secret Mall Apartment In-Person
SECRET MALL APARTMENT
In 2003, a group of young Rhode Islanders established a fully furnished secret apartment in the Providence Place mall. The group managed to come and go and sometimes live in the apartment for four years before they were finally caught in 2007. Jeremy Workman’s documentary begins as a relatively straightforward story. But what at first seems like a prank or protest against urban gentrification becomes a deeper, more resonant story that takes several unexpected turns.
