Therapy Dogs in Life and Fiction

Therapy Dogs in Life and Fiction In-Person

Join us for an evening devoted to all things therapy dog! Judy Bush, who is a therapy dog evaluator for the international organization Alliance of Therapy Dogs, will discuss the qualities of a successful therapy dog, what they do, and how they get certified for volunteer work. Next, a representative from K9 Reading Buddies of the North Shore will talk about their experience serving the public with therapy dogs. Then we’ll enjoy a reading by Glencoe resident Craig Scalise, indie author of the youth book A Dog’s Story: Misty’s Healing Power. Craig’s dog Misty was one of the Paws for Patrick team that helped people in Highland Park after the 2022 parade. One or two therapy dogs plan to make cameo appearances. For adults and older teens.
