Contemporary Fiction: The History of Sound In-Person

Judy Levin will lead a book discussion of The History of Sound: Stories by Ben Shattuck. A stunning collection of interconnected stories set in New England, The History of Sound explores how the past is often misunderstood and how history, family, heartache, and desire can echo over centuries. It has won the Story Prize Spotlight Award and the 2025 Mark Twain American Voice in Literature Award and was longlisted for the PEN/Faulkner Award for Fiction and the Andrew Carnegie Medal for Excellence in Fiction.

All are welcome. This program will take place in the Hammond Room on the mezzanine level of the library. Register as soon as possible so that the library can locate a copy of the book for you.

If you like, you can opt to receive a text message reminder for this program. All links and any specific event details will still be sent via email.
