Glencoe Modern: Custom and High Style Subdivision Houses In-Person

Architectural historian Susan Benjamin will discuss Glencoe's unique modern architectural heritage. Among stellar designs in the village are houses designed by Edward Dart, Don Erickson, Milton Schwartz, and Keck & Keck, who pioneered the use of passive solar energy for heating and cooling. No other community features subdivisions by both the Kecks and builder Greta Lederer. Susan Benjamin is the author of Modern in the Middle: Chicago Houses 1929-1975 (Monacelli Press, 2020). Cosponsored with the Glencoe Preservation Commission.
