Beyond the Screen: A “Wicked” Conversation with Marissa Bode Online

Prepare for a magical evening with actress and disability activist Marissa Bode. Bode made her feature film debut in Academy Award-winning blockbuster, Wicked, making her the first wheelchair user to portray the character of Nessarose. Bode will share personal stories and insights from her time on stage, the challenges and rewards of being part of an iconic production, and what the future holds for her career. Amanda Finn will join Bode in conversation.

Marissa Bode is a Wisconsin-born, Los-Angeles-based disabled actress who has been acting since age eight in a number of plays and musicals. She studied at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy, and wrote, directed, and produced the short film You're Adorable for the 2021 Wisconsin Film Festival. When she's not acting or creating films, Marissa enjoys painting and cooking.

Amanda Finn is a queer theater, lifestyle, and travel journalist based in Chicago. Their work has appeared in the Chicago Reader, American Theatre Magazine, Yahoo, Huffington Post, and more.
